Following a number of successful online creative writing and digital music performances, the latest offering from Cork County Council’s Library and Arts service will provide free online workshops for crafters throughout the county.

The recently launched “An Artist by My Side” programme includes a series of interactive Zoom sessions including ‘Creative Stitch’ with Carmel Creaner, ‘Wet Felting’ with Stephanie from Feltastik and a ‘Magical Mystery Quilt’ workshop with Mary Palmer of Marimu Designs. For younger craft enthusiasts, acclaimed Architect and Designer Anja Reinhold, will present a four session ‘Arts and Crafts with Anja’ course.

Those lucky enough to secure a space at these creative sessions, will also receive unique “craft packs” prior to embarking on their chosen artistic journey. With the pack in tow, participants will be free to craft without having to worry about any difficulties in sourcing materials.

Welcoming the “An Artist by My Side” programme, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley commented:

Learning a new skill is an achievement at any age and now you can access these expert craft tutorials from the comfort of home. At a time that is challenging and stressful for many, it is essential that we find ways to switch off and relax. Being creative is a wonderful way to keep active and to lift your mood. Cork County Council Library and Arts Service continues to illustrate how creative and innovative they are in bringing these Zoom workshop sessions to people all corners of Cork County. I know that this programme will act as a pilot for many more exciting projects in 2021 and beyond.
